To change a cell address, do any of the following: Select the reference in the formula and type a new one. Select the reference in the formula, and then select another cell or range on the sheet. To include more or fewer cells in a reference, drag the color-coded border of the cell or range.
To turn off the R1C1 reference style: Click the File tab to access Backstage view. Click Options. The Excel Options dialog box will appear. Click Formulas on the left side of the dialog box. Uncheck the box next to R1C1 reference style, then click OK. Excel will now use the A1 reference style.
The LOOKUP function in Excel is used to search one column of data and find data in the corresponding row. For example, if you are searching a column of employee IDs the LOOKUP function can find, say, employee number 12345 in the ID column. Once it has found the ID 12345 it then can return data from that same row.
To change the type of cell reference: Select the cell that contains the formula. In the formula bar. , select the reference that you want to change. Press F4 to switch between the reference types.
Changing the Number of Columns If your document is formatted using more than one section, position the insertion point in the document section that you want to affect. Choose Columns from the Format menu. Change the value in the Number of Columns field to the number of columns desired.
You can generate a unique value using a formula in the spreadsheet. An ID must be a value, not a formula, though, so copy (Ctrl+C) and paste as plain text (Shift+Ctrl+V) the result of the formula calculation into the cell meant to contain the new ID. Thats all there is to it!
When the Excel Options window appears, click on the Formulas option on the left. Then uncheck the option called R1C1 reference style and click on the OK button. Now when you return to your spreadsheet, the column headings should be letters (A, B, C, D) instead of numbers (1, 2, 3, 4).
Hide cell values Select the cells. On the Format menu, click Cells, and then click the Number tab. Under Category, click Custom. In the Type box, type ;;; (that is, three semicolons in a row), and then click OK.
