In some documents we have to repeatedly select text and highlight it. To not have to use the buttons all the time, you can also highlight the selected text using the keyboard shortcut CTRL + ALT + H. And by the way, if you also want to be able to change the highlighting color with the keyboard only, then use the shortcut ALT + H + I. With the arrow keys, you can move around in the color palette and with the ENTER key you can confirm your choice.
