New day, new mail in laptop repair. Well, what do we have here? Itamp;#39;s a Dell XPS 15, and the customers note says that itamp;#39;s dead. Okay, letamp;#39;s give it a try. Yep. And if you look at my new Dell Power meter version 2 you could see that itamp;#39;s stuck pulling 50 milliamps, which is really bad. So that means time to replace the motherboard. So letamp;#39;s grab a new one from the warehouse. NO JUST KIDDING! Letamp;#39;s open it up and take some measurements. Well, I could see that all the power rails are present, so the laptop should turn on. This points to a bad PCH or EC chip or even a corrupted BIOS. Letamp;#39;s pull the motherboard out and get it under the microscope. In order for me to write a new BIOS to this chip, I will need to remove it and it into my reader. I will backup the contents first and then I will write a new clean BIOS back to the chip. Time to reassemble. Moment of Truth. Another motherboard SAVED!
