1 Answer Select the cells you want to format. Select Format, Cells. Select the Numbers tab. Select the word Date under Category. Select the format you like.
Select the DocInformation tab. In the Type section, click on Modified; in the Select section, click on Date. Click on Insert to place this field in your document.
Insert a date that updates automatically On the Insert tab, in the Text group, click Date Time. In the Date and time dialog box, select the format you want. Select the Update automatically check box. The date is inserted as a field and will update automatically.
Ctrl + ; to insert the date, ⇧ Shift + Ctrl + ; to insert the time.
The default date format is the ISO standard date-time format: YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS. You can create your own Cell styles with the desired format code, and then you can apply them to the cells containing date values.
To insert the current date, press Ctrl+; (semi-colon). To insert the current time, press Ctrl+Shift+; (semi-colon). To insert the current date and time, press Ctrl+; (semi-colon), then press Space, and then press Ctrl+Shift+; (semi-colon).
Date and time fields come in two varieties, Fixed and Variable. The default is Fixed. Right-click on your field and choose Fields on the context menu then choose the option that is not fixed. Then F9 will then update your fields and automatic updating will work.
I know there is the CTRL + ; shortcut to insert the current date and CTRL + SHIFT + ; to insert the current time. My language default format is MM/DD/YY HH:MM:SS pm/am - I do not want to change this.
