On the Insert tab, in the Text group, click Date Time. In the Date and time dialog box, select the format you want. Select the Update automatically check box. The date is inserted as a field and will update automatically.
Select the Design tab. Click the Date Time option. Choose the desired format of the date from the menu that appears. Check the Update automatically box.
Date the document is created or revised is identified on the first page and, when possible, is incorporated into the header or footer of the document and appears on every succeeding page.
The easiest way to do that is to use the Field tool. Put your cursor where you want the date to appear and click on Insert, Field. That will evoke the Field dialog box. Select SaveDate (if youre using Office 2002) or Date and Time (if youre using an earlier version) from the field categories.
Revisions are often denoted by a letter or other identifier (e.g. Rev A or Rev 1.0). In practice, the terms document version and document revision are sometimes used interchangeably.
Turn on Track Changes to show edits made in a document, and use Show Markup to show the types of revisions youd like to display. Select Review Track Changes to turn it on. Make edits in your document and Word captures any edits you make. Select Review Track Changes to turn it off.
To change the date format in Word: Select the date field. Press [Alt] + F9 to reveal the field coding or, right-click on the field and choose the Toggle Field Code option. Edit the field by inserting the date-time format switch \@ to the end of the field. Press [Alt] + F9 again.
To edit the date, click the gray box, type a new date, and then click outside the box. To change the date back to the current date, click the date field and click Update. Note: If you manually change the date and then save and close your document, the next time the document is opened, Word will show the current date.
