Select Transfer from a Time Machine Backup, then click Continue. If necessary, enter the name and password you use to connect to your backup disk. You may also have to enter the password you used to encrypt the backup. Select the date and time of the backup you want to restore, then follow the onscreen instructions.
Boot your Mac in macOS Recovery mode. Select Restore From Time Machine Backup on macOS Utilities and click Continue. Select the external hard drive the latest Time Machine backup and click Continue. Choose a drive where to save the Time Machine backup and click Continue.
If you have a MacBook older than 2018 or running Big Sur or an older macOS version, follow the steps below one by one. Step 1: Sign out from iCloud. Step 2: Sign out from iMessage. Reset NVRAM. Step 4: Boot into recovery mode. Step 5: Wipe Mac hard drive. Step 6: Reinstall macOS.

The best way to recover your data is to create an image backup of the hard drive and open it from another Mac with data recovery software. You can also remove the hard drive from the dead MacBook and connect it to a working Mac. Alternatively, you can create a macOS bootable USB disk to access your files.
Redo the last action you undid: Choose Edit Redo, or press Command-Shift-Z.
