The DOT code consists of the manufacturers plant code, the tire size, brand and the week/year the tire was made. The DOT number is stamped on both sides of the tire sidewall and can be found by looking for the DOT designation on the sidewall.
This code reveals the week and year the tire was manufactured. For a 4-digit code, the first two numbers represent the week, while the last two represent the year. For instance, 2321 indicates the tire was made in the 23rd week of 2021.
The letters DOT are followed by eight to thirteen letters and/or numbers that identify where the tire was manufactured, tire size, and the manufacturers code, along with the week and year the tire was manufactured.
3811 - The DOT code is a four-digit number, 3811 in this case. The first two digits of the DOT code indicate the production week of the year (from 1 to 52). The third and fourth digits of the DOT code indicate the year of manufacture. If your DOT code is a 3-digit number, it means your tire was produced before 2000.
Code Churn or Code Rework is a metric that measures the amount of code that is changed or deleted during a specific period of time. It is used to measure the maintainability and stability of the codebase and to identify areas where the code may be overly complex or hard to understand.
If your tires were made before the year 2000, the date code will be only 3 digits the first two digits again listing the week of the year, and the last digit being the last digit of the year of the tires manufacture.
In the DOT occupational classification system, each set of three digits in the 9-digit code number has a specific purpose or meaning. Together, they provide a unique identification code for a particular occupation which differentiates it from all others. The first three digits identify a particular occupational group.
For retreads, the letter R, which indicates that the tire is a retread, ALWAYS precedes the three letters. Example: R XYZ indicates that (1) the tire is a retread, and (2) the tire was retreaded by the company that has been issued the three letters following R.
