You can use binary data to send information you cant enter manually in the Postman editor with your request body, such as image, audio, and video files. (You can also send text files.) In the Body tab of your request, select the binary option, then select the file you want to send with the request.
Sending binary data The send method of the XMLHttpRequest has been extended to enable easy transmission of binary data by accepting an ArrayBuffer , Blob , or File object. The following example creates a text file on-the-fly and uses the POST method to send the file to the server.
Sending binary data for RESTful APIs Select the HTTP Method: In Postman, select POST as your HTTP method for your request. Enter the URL: Input the endpoint URL where you are transmitting data. Choose Body tab: Click on the Body tab, and select binary from the dropdown menu.
Binary data (You can also send text files.) In the Body tab of your request, select the binary option, then select the file you want to send with the request. You can select a file from your local system, and Postman saves the file path in the request. The saved file path is relative to your local working directory.
Binary files are usually thought of as being a sequence of bytes, which means the binary digits (bits) are grouped in eights. Binary files typically contain bytes that are intended to be interpreted as something other than text characters.
The JSON format natively doesnt support binary data. The binary data has to be escaped so that it can be placed into a string element (i.e. zero or more Unicode chars in double quotes using backslash escapes) in JSON. An obvious method to escape binary data is to use Base64.
To edit a resource Select the byte you want to edit. The Tab key moves the focus between the hexadecimal and ASCII sections of the Binary Editor. Type the new value. The value changes immediately in both the hexadecimal and ASCII sections and focus shifts to the next value in line.
