welcome back to plant-based kidney health everyone iamp;#39;m michelle krosmer and iamp;#39;m here with dr hashmi and our question for today is can the kidneys repair themselves and can you reverse um scarring fibrosis and lesions of the kidneys all right michelle as always the answer is not a yes and itamp;#39;s not a no it depends so if we look at the evidence behind whatamp;#39;s going on what we understand so far over the last two and a half decades of research is that the kidneys are constantly regenerated and theyamp;#39;re constantly repairing themselves through life but they have a limit to how far they can repair themselves so essentially what happens is thereamp;#39;s sort of this threshold if you pass the threshold you will start to create scarring we call that fibrosis going on and thatamp;#39;s the point of no return going on now right now thereamp;#39;s some really exciting research going on looking at a lot of different molecular pathways that they can stop that
