Gmails Edit subject line feature Gmail allows you to change a subject line of an existing email thread when you respond in the thread. When you do this, youre actually copying over the existing email thread and creating a new thread with your response and the new subject line.
To the left of the name of the person you are replying to, click the dropdown arrow. A pop-up menu appears. From the pop-up menu, click Edit subject. Gmails new compose/reply window will appear for you to type your reply.
Hint: click anywhere inside the subject line. Once you see a blinking cursor, press CTRL+A to select the entire subject line. Type your new subject. Click the Save icon in the top left corner of the message window, then close the message.
