Practise, Practise and Practise. Using Practice questions and past papers is the true test of where you are at and the ticket to an A* grade (if used properly). Past papers can be found online and on the relevant exam boards such as AQA, OCR and Edexcel.
If the questions solely cover the material you studied in great detail, achieving an A* shouldnt be too difficult. So maths revision (if you can accommodate multi-level revision, go for it) is the key here. Exam preparation will be a chaos for lazy smart people, and they will miss some easy points.
A Level Grading System A Level GradePercentage A* 90% + A 80-89% B 70-79% C 60-69%3 more rows Nov 7, 2023
A-Level Further Maths is widely regarded as the most difficult A-Level subject, and for good reason. This subject is a step up from regular Mathematics, and covers a range of complex topics, including advanced calculus, differential equations, and abstract algebra.
You can only get an A* overall at A2 if you got an A at AS level, and if your average percentage mark was 90 or higher. Even a good A at A2 cant raise a B to higher than a low A. So youll need to retake at least one of your AS modules, and probably both.
Heres a quick guide to effectively revise in an hour. Step 1 Pick a past paper question. Step 2 Revise for your question 20 minutes. Step 3 Do the question 20 minutes. Step 4 Mark your answer - 20 minutes. Step 5 Perfecting your answer. Step 6 - Give yourself more than an hour!
Among the most widely used revision guidelines are: The Rule of 1-2-4-7: On day 1, read about a subject for the first time. On day two, day four, and day seven, make revisions. In this manner, a topic is revised three times following the initial reading, with the interval between the two revisions gradually growing.
Revision techniques include flash cards, past papers, mind maps, group work and recording yourself talking then playing it back. Finding what works for you involves trial and error. Bear in mind that what works well for one exam might not work for another.
