Mix equal parts white vinegar and olive oil in a bowl and saturate the wood stain using a paper towel. Let the solution sit for an hour to release trapped moisture in the pores. Wipe off the residue with a soft cloth and buff the wood until the stained area blends in with the natural wood grain.
How to seal wood without darkening the natural color: Sand with a very high grit - the higher the better! Clean with Krud Kutter. Water down white paint and lightly whitewash the wood. Use a sponge brush to eliminate brush strokes, and apply the General Finishes Flat Out Flat topcoat.
To finish wood without docHubly altering its colour, use Finney�s Trade Acrylic Varnish. The matt version will protect the wood without the obvious appearance of a finish being applied.
Water-based stains need to be stripped off before you apply a new finish, while oil-based stains can be recoated after you use a deck cleaner. To test the stain: Apply a small amount of deck stripper to a small area on your deck. Let it sit for about 15 minutes, then wipe it off with a cleaning rag.
What you want to go for is a finish that is known as water-white. This means that when it dries on the surface of the wood, it wont bring any color to the party. Just about any water-based finish fits into this category. There are also water-white lacquers that work very well.
Linseed Oil Commonly used on furniture, cutting boards, and wooden tools, its an excellent choice for enhancing the wood grain and providing a warm, rich finish. Pros: Easy to apply. Environmentally friendly.
