There is however, a calibre plugin that allows you to create collections on your Kindle from the calibre metadata. It is available from here.
Your book details, also called metadata, are the different book attributes you enter when setting up your book title. This information is used to create your book and your books detail page. Certain book details can be updated after publication to fix errors.
You cannot create and edit MOBI files any more. Before the MOBI format was discontinued, authors were able to create and edit MOBI files in various eBook software like Calibre and Kindle Create. Today, if you want to edit an eBook that has been created in the MOBI format, you will first need to convert it.
It will begin to gradually phase out MOBI format support on November 1, 2023, and will completely stop support for MOBI format on December 20, 2023. Unlike the previous announcement, Amazon has provided a detailed execution plan for the cessation of MOBI format support in the Send to Kindle service this time.
Should You Use MOBI or EPUB Files? Because of its much smaller file sizes and wider compatibility, EPUB is the better format. The only reason to use MOBI used to be for compatibility with Amazons e-reader and app, but this is no longer an issue since Kindles now support EPUB.
Head to the File menu, then click File info. And you can also press Ctrl + Alt + Shift + I on Windows and Command + Option + Shift + I on Mac. From here, you can copy or edit the metadata. Click OK to save your changes.
Editing the metadata of one book at a time. Click the book you want to edit and then click the Edit metadata button or press the E key. A dialog opens that allows you to edit all aspects of the metadata. It has various features to make editing faster and more efficient.
Right-click on the book. Then choose Edit metadata and Edit metadata individually. Edit the new title and author, and then click Generate Cover. (Make sure to click OK so you know its saved.)
