Paper rejection often stems from research that lacks originality or novelty. If your study doesnt contribute new or meaningful insights to your field, chances are it wont be accepted for publication. To steer clear of this issue, take the time to perform an in-depth literature review before diving into your research.
It is perfectly acceptable for you to politely email the editor after receiving an RR and inquire about the journals editorial process. If you understand that the same referees will not see your revised manuscript, it can help you decide how you want to revise.
Even in circumstances where the revision time is generous, editors need to keep that due date in mind when making a decision. If the editor feels as though it would be difficult for an author to make the changes required in the amount of time given for revisions, then the editor should reject the paper.
If the previous editorial decision was C (revise re-review) or D (major revisions re-review), the paper will be sent for re-review to the original reviewers, together with your responses. As a result of this, you may receive a further round of comments from the same reviewers.
Remember that receiving a revise and resubmit decision is better than a rejection. In a way, it is good news, as it is an indication that your paper has potential and that the reviewers believe it can be improved. Look at it as an opportunity to learn and make your research paper stronger so that it has greater impact.
Many papers that docHub the review stage are rejected because although their hypothesis is clear and the study is well designed, the conclusions made do not have enough data to make the case. Perhaps the sample size or patient data set is too small to yield statistically docHub results.
First, papers going through review are a lot more likely to be accepted. For journals I have managed, the number of major revision papers that are eventually accepted stays solidly between 80-90%.
