The quote prepares customers or clients for how much they will need to pay. The invoice outlines the terms for payment and sets the due date. Both documents are binding on customers and businesses, detailing which services will be performed and how much the customer or client will owe.

The big difference between a quote vs. invoice is timing. A quote comes before the work is done, and an invoice comes after. Both documents are critical to the financial success of a business.
Receipts Name of vendor (person or company you paid) Transaction date (when you paid) Detailed description of goods or services purchased (what you bought) Amount paid. Form of payment (how you paid cash, check, or last four digits of credit card)
An accepted estimate can be used to copy over information to an invoice manually or with the use of accounting software. If any changes have occurred between the time a customer accepts an estimate and an invoice is ready to be issued, highlight those changes and provide detailed reasoning.
Alternatively, find and open the quote, then click Create invoice from within the quote. Select Mark as invoiced, then click Create. This copies all the details into the new invoice. If the quote doesnt have a reference, the quote number is copied into the reference field instead.
Once the job is finished, you can convert your initial quote into a final invoice to bill your customers. To reiterate, however, the total cost of the invoice must match the price of your initial quote; otherwise, you may have a hard time getting your contract paid.
After a customer accepts your quote, you can convert that quote directly into an invoice. When you convert it to an invoice, the quote and the invoice are linked, which keeps your books accurate.
