you know what every car needs an eg t gauge got this Famaamp;#39;s on probably two years ago it was probably thirty bucks about the only reason I bought it I seriously doubt itamp;#39;s accurate I wasnamp;#39;t putting it on a vehicle where I need to know exact template letamp;#39;s joke a 1997 Toyota Corolla with a 1.6 this is naturally aspirated thereamp;#39;s zero point and putting it in which is exactly why Iamp;#39;m doing it I just got done pulling the heat shield off and Iamp;#39;m going to drill it out to twenty one three sixty four and so it is drilled and tapped itamp;#39;s a lot thicker than I thought it would be that pretty much tells me where the heat shields gonna be so Iamp;#39;m going to modify that and put it back on and finish putting this in all right I would have preferred to have gotten it down here where it can collect readings from all four cylinders but because how close it is the radiator I was only gonna get it well you get three I donamp;#39;t know

For normally aspirated engines, peak EGTs will be in the mid-1,500s, but with turbocharging, EGTs can be much higher into the 1,600-1,700 range, and one needs to be careful.
Commonly, diesel performance enthusiasts will ask: Whats a safe EGT? The short answer is anything sustained below 1350 degrees Fahrenheit is acceptable by most OEM standards so long as your other engine temperatures remain within safe boundaries.
As the mixture is leaned and we move to the right, all tracked parameters increase and peak, but at different points. For example, the most HP is available at around 100 degrees (F) rich of peak EGT (ROP). (For economy, many airframe manufacturers recommend running the engine in this range, usually 50-75 degrees ROP.)
At Manta Performance, we recommend that your EGT stay under 550C (as measured at the turbo outlet) to assure your engines safety. What happens when your EGT gets too high? Nothing good! Certain parts of your engine can fail due to the excessive heat produced.
During normal driving, on a level road, EGTs should be in the 600 to 800-degree range. A lower cruising EGT can be a great indicator of getting good fuel economy. Even during normal driving, exhaust gas temperature is a value that can tell you how efficiently your engine is working at a given moment, gear, and speed.
Final answer: If the exhaust temperature is too high, it can damage engine components, catalytic converters, and the exhaust system of the vehicle. It is essential to keep the optimal exhaust temperature to prevent severe damage.
Keeping EGTs below 1,200 degrees is an accepted safe limit for towing. Excessively high EGTs are the result of a rich air/fuel ratio and are typically realized when engines are modified. This doesnt mean a factory engine should be able to pull a grade at full load without experiencing high EGTs.
