Go to File Options Proofing. Select AutoCorrect Options, and then select the AutoFormat As You Type tab. Select or clear Automatic bulleted lists or Automatic numbered lists.
Click next to the text for the bullet you want to change. On the Home tab, in the Paragraph group, select the arrow next to Multilevel List, and then select Change List Level. Select the level where you want the bullet. Each level has a different bullet style.
Press the Tab key to create indented bullet points. Shift + Tab to go back a level. To navigate long lists, use your mouse scroll wheel.
Select Review Display for Review. Select the option you want: Simple Markup points out where changes are made with a red line in the margin. All Markup shows all edits with different colors of text and lines.

To make changes to a document, in the upper-right corner, select Edit Document Edit. If someone else created the document, they might not allow editing. You can go to File Save as, save it with another name, and edit the new document. Or you can ask the document owner to enable editing.
