Waiving is an annual process and must be completed each new academic year to avoid being automatically enrolled into UC SHIP.
Students can check status of their application at any time by signing into Academic Health Plans (AHP) Waiver System. It is the students responsibility to monitor their waiver application status.
You do NOT need to submit proof of enrollment to our office. Your OASIS account will only be updated once we confirm your enrollment with Gallagher. You may waive out of the USF policy by purchasing an adequate alternative policy. Please refer to the 2022-2023 Spring pre-approved alternative insurance list.
Waiving UC SHIP is an annual process and must be completed each academic year to avoid automatic enrollment.
To waive out of UC SHIP, you must submit a request on-line during the open waiver periods and by the posted deadlines as shown below. If approved, the waiver is in effect for the current term and the remainder of the academic year. A new waiver request must be submitted at the beginning of each academic year.
When you submit a waiver application, it typically takes 5-7 business days for AHP to audit your waiver.
Your UC SHIP Insurance ends on the last day of the quarter within which you graduated. (With the exception of Spring Quarter, insurance coverage extends through Summer Quarter) Graduated students will have a (1) quarter grace period to receive services at Student Health Service.
UC SHIP is an affordable health insurance plan tailored to the health care needs of UCSB students. The medical plan features year-round, worldwide coverage using the Anthem Blue Cross network, and includes prepaid access to care at the UCSB Student Health Center for illness or injury.
o Late waiver applications are accepted thirty (30) days following the close of the waiver period. Please note approved late waiver applications will be charged a missed waiver deadline fee of $50.00. o UC SHIP Waiver Periods and Deadlines AY 2021-22 8.
