The VIA Survey for adults takes approximately 10-15 minutes to complete. As long as you have a registered account, you can stop taking the survey part-way through and your responses will be saved. You can then log back in to complete the survey. How many people have taken the VIA Survey?
The VIA Classification refers to the 24 character strengths of personality, such as fairness, gratitude, curiosity, self-regulation, and bravery, that reflect core identity and contribute to the collective good. Each model has measurement tools and a host of research studies supporting the model.
The 3 strengths are curiosity, gratitude, and spirituality. Other strengths research has shown that two of these three (curiosity and gratitude) are quite common. They are among the most endorsed strengths across the globe (McGrath, 2015; Park and colleagues, 2006).
Most people possess all of the strengths in various degrees, rather than having a simple set of discrete strengths. Character strengths are understood as dimensions and not as nominal categories, and they are dynamic over time, meaning scores and rankings can shift over time and circumstances.
What Does VIA Mean? While it once stood for Values in Action Inventory, our original psychological assessment, the VIA [vee-uh] in our organizations name today describes the way that our institute connects research and practice.
The VIA Inventory of Strengths (VIA-IS), formerly known as the Values in Action Inventory, is a proprietary psychological assessment measure designed to identify an individuals profile of character strengths.
Values in Action (VIA) is a Key Student Development Experience (SDE) that aims to nurture socially responsible citizens who contribute meaningfully to the community, through the learning and application of values, knowledge and skills.
The VIA Survey was developed by renowned psychologist, Christopher Peterson, Ph. D., and was originally 240-questions. In 2013, the VIA Institute validated and launched an abbreviated version of the VIA Survey that is 120-questions.
