If the next-to-last digit of the USDOT Number is even, the motor carrier or intermodal equipment provider shall file its update in every even-numbered calendar year. FMCSA also requires you to update your registration information within 30 days of any change.
You cannot add or edit a Driving (DR) status. The only driving time you can edit in your logs is time recorded as Off Duty - Personal Use, On Duty - Yard Moves, and On Duty - Unregulated Driving.
Drivers can reset their clock by taking a break of 34 consecutive hours in two different statuses: Off Duty or Sleeper Berth. Once drivers have completed their 34-hour break, they can resume working.
Failure to File Biennial Paperwork Not submitting an update before the deadline will deactivate your U.S. DOT number and incur fines of up to $1,000 a day. The FMCSA requires motor carriers to update their business information every two years or sooner if changes occur.
To completely reset the 70-hour clock, it requires a 34-hour restart. Example: A driver can be ON-Duty a maximum 60 hours in a 7 day cycle. In order to reset the cycle, drivers must take a consecutive 34 hours of OFF-Duty.
You are required to provide this update every two years. Failure to complete a biennial update will result in deactivation of your U.S. DOT Number and may result in civil penalties of up to $1,000 per day, not to exceed $10,000 as periodically adjusted for inflation.
If your agency has a USDOT number and operates under Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations, you are responsible for updating your information with the FMCSA every two years.
In addition, FMCSA requires all entities under its jurisdiction to update their information every two years: US DOT Numbers: Routine Updates. Biennial Updates.
