A: You can edit a password-protected Word document by first removing the password from the document. To do this, youll need the password to enter when you open the Word document. Once youve entered the password, the document will open so you can make any changes you would like.
Unlock a protected document On the Review tab, in the Protect group, click Restrict Editing. In the Restrict Editing task pane, click Stop Protection.

Removing a password from a document is a simple process, but you have to know the original password. Open the document and enter its password. Go to File Info Protect Document Encrypt with Password. Clear the password in the Password box, and then click OK.
