As you read Of Mice and Men, you are REQUIRED to annotate the text (refer to Annotation Tips below). Pay close attention to themes, characterization, imagery, figurative language, diction, detail, symbolism, etc. Dont mark too much. If you mark everything, nothing will stand out.
John Steinbecks Of Mice and Men is a parable about what it means to be human. Steinbecks story of George and Lennies ambition of owning their own ranch, and the obstacles that stand in the way of that ambition, reveal the nature of dreams, dignity, loneliness, and sacrifice.
Of Mice and Men is a novella written by John Steinbeck. Published in 1937, it narrates the experiences of George Milton and Lennie Small, two displaced migrant ranch workers, who move from place to place in California in search of new job opportunities during the Great Depression in the United States.
Nothing happens in chapter seven of Of Mice and Men. This is because there are only six chapters to the book. In the last chapter, which is chapter six of the story, Lennie remembers Georges orders and goes to the clearing by the side of the river where George told him to go if there was trouble.
Answer and Explanation: Steinbecks purpose in writing Of Mice and Men is to tell the story of what it means to be a human being. All humans have dreams or goals that they would like to docHub, and this can be seen in George and Lennies desire to own their own ranch, live off the fat of the land, and raise rabbits.
Of Mice and Men is written in the form of a novella, which is fictional and shorter than a novel but longer than a short story. Steinbeck said that he decided to write the story in a similar way to a play, with a focus on using dialogue, and less description than is usual for prose fiction.
Curley is a very aggressive and violent character. He is the Bosss son and takes advantage of the power that he has over the other men on the ranch to treat them cruelly and pick fights. He is physically small and so is resentful of bigger men and picks a fight with Lennie because of this.
