Once you add the chart legend, there are many things that you can do to change how it looks. Right-click the legend, and then click Font. On the Font tab, make the changes that you want to the font or font size.
Select the cell in the workbook that contains the legend name you want to change. Tip: You can first click your chart to see what cells within your data are included in your legend. Type the new legend name in the selected cell, and press Enter.
Click the chart, and then click the Chart Design tab. Click Add Chart Element Legend. To change the position of the legend, choose Right, Top, Left, or Bottom. To change the format of the legend, click More Legend Options, and then make the format changes that you want.
How to change the order of your chart legend Step 1: To reorder the bars, click on the chart and select Chart Tools. Step 2: In the Select Data Source pop up, under the Legend Entries section, select the item to be reallocated and, using the up or down arrow on the top right, reposition the items in the desired order.
Change the Shape of Markers Highlight one or more markers whose shape you would like to change. Right-click anywhere in the graph. In a histogram, right-click the box plot area on the right. Select Row Markers. Select a marker shape from the options that appear, or click Other to enter a character to use as a marker.
Modify the legend appearance using the Configure Legend dialog box. Right-click the Legend shape, and then click Configure Legend. In the Configure Legend dialog box, do any of the following: Show or hide particular legend symbols in the Legend shape using the check boxes under Visible.
But if you really want to change the shape of the legend, we can do that manually by following this workaround: Click the Graph. Click Format under the Chart Tools. In the Insert Shapes panel, select your desired shape. Draw your shape and drag it beside the legend.
On the Format tab, in the Current Selection group, click Format Selection. Click Marker Options, and then under Marker Type, make sure that Built-in is selected. In the Type box, select the marker type that you want to use.
