The main difference between any JPEG and RAW file is its size. RAW files are docHubly bigger than JPEG (and any other) image file formats. Thats because they contain all the raw image information captured by your digital cameras sensors, completely uncompressed.
One of the largest benefits of RAW is the ability to recover shadows and highlights in post-processing without bringing in the grainy noise usually associated with high ISO settings. RAWs are very forgiving if you have severely underexposed or overexposed areas.
Unfortunately, you cant change the focus in a single captured RAW file. The RAW file includes all of the information captured by your sensor, but the focus point is dependent upon the optics.
RAW editors allow you to adjust almost anything you can imagine: exposure, sharpness, color, noise, and more. So unlike with a compressed format (JPEG, for example), if you happen to take an underexposed photo in RAW, you may very well be able to save it by pulling out more detail from the shadows.
RAW files contain a high amount of detail converting to a JPEG means compressing the details into a much smaller file size with less space to store image data.
Apply Raw Details Ctrl-click (on Mac)/right-click (on Windows) the image and select Enhance. From the menu bar, choose Photo Enhance.
The main advantage of RAW files is that they contain the most detail compared to other raster and vector file types. This gives you a lot more to work with when editing photos. Wide color range. RAW files can contain millions more colors than a JPEG image, plus increased RGB tonal values.
This often leads to confusion, with people mistakenly saying My jpgs are better than my raw files! This is to be expected though, because youve not post-processed your raw file yet the jpg only looks good because its been automatically tweaked in the camera, adding brightness, blacks, saturation, sharpening,
