Go to File Info. Select Protect document. Select Enable Editing.
Edit templates On the File tab, select Open. Double-click This PC. Browse to the Custom Office Templates folder under My Documents. Choose your template, and select Open. Make the changes you want, then save and close the template.

Update a field In a document you have open, right-click a field, such as a table of contents, a page number, or a cross-reference, and click Update Field. Notes: If youre updating a table of contents, in the Update Table of Contents dialog box, select whether you want to update page numbers only or the entire table.
To edit the template, select Enable Editing at the top of your word document. Once you select this option you can now edit your template. If you dont see this option: Open Word, click File and then choose Options.
