Does AOA certification expire?

All certificates are time-limited for 10 years or less. You are eligible to participate in OCC even if you hold a non-expiring certificate. The following chart outlines certificate time limits for each osteopathic docHubing board.

How long does Aobim certification last?

AOBIM diplomates with ten year certificates are eligible to register for the longitudinal assessment modules within the same year when the certificate expires.

What does the ABIM stand for?

Certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Since its founding in 1936 to answer a public call to establish more uniform standards for physicians, Certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) has stood for the highest standard in internal medicine and its 20 subspecialties.

What does it mean to be AOA certified?

Designed by physicians for physicians, AOA Board Certification ensures the advancement of clinical skills and knowledge throughout your entire medical career. AOA Board Certification is an important quality marker for patients, employers, insurers and regulators.

What does Aobim stand for?

A physician who has not obtained final certification at the end of six years of board eligibility may petition the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine (AOBIM) to re-enter the certification process.
