Oh hi everybody! Today Im going to talk to you about shapes, and attributes, and maybe even rocket ships. Ho, I really like rocket ships. OK, did you know that shapes are all around us? Ahem. I said did you know that shapes are all around us? Shapes! Come around me! OK thats better. So, let us practice the names of these shapes. We will start with triangle, square, circle, rectangle, pentagon, and peanut butter sandwich with a pickle on top. And shapes all have something we call attributes. ATTRIBUTES! Thats right, attributes. ATTRIBUTES! An attribute is something about a shape or something that a shape has that makes it different, or similar, to another shape. For example, Triangle has three sides - one, two, three - and is blue. ATTRIBUTES! Square has four sides the same length - one, two, three, four- and is kind of furry. ATTRIBUTES! Circle.. wow what a great shape - is kind of small, has zero sides, and is grey. ATTRIBUTES! Rectangle has four sides

Dot notation indicates that youre accessing data or behaviors for a particular object type. When you use dot notation, you indicate to Python that you want to either run a particular operation on, or to access a particular property of, an object type.
Dot notation is one way to access a property of an object. To use dot notation, write the name of the object, followed by a dot (.), followed by the name of the property. Example: var cat = { name: Moo, age: 5, }; console. log(cat.name);
Dot Notation (for time derivatives) Often in engineering a single and double dot shorthand notation is used to signify (usually time) derivatives. Because velocities and accelerations are time derivatives, we will often use dot notation to simplify writing derivatives.
Dot Notation is useful when you know the property ahead of time. You simply do object. key to read/modify an existing property or to add a new property. Bracket Notation is useful when you want to dynamically access a property.
Dot notation is three fewer characters to type than bracket notation. And in terms of finger movement, typing a single period is much more convenient than typing brackets and quotes. This might sound like a trivial reason, but if youre selecting columns dozens (or hundreds) of times a day, it makes a real difference!
Dot notation = a dot that replaces an index stands for the mean for the observations the dot replaces. In summation notation, the dot looks like: The total number of observations is: DOUBLE SUMMATION - two summation symbols in tandem indicates double summation.
Differences between Dot Notation and Bracket Notation Property Accessor. Dot Notation only allows static keys while Bracket Notation accepts dynamic keys. Static key here means that the key is typed directly, while Dynamic key here means that the key is evaluated from an expression.
Dot notation is faster to write and clearer to read. Square bracket notation allows access to properties containing special characters and selection of properties using variables.
