When someone shares a Word document with you, the email you receive includes a link that opens the document in your web browser: in Word for the web. Select Edit Document Edit in Browser.
Here are the steps to do so:Open the email containing the Word document. Click on the Enable Editing button at the top of the document. If you still cant edit the document, click on File and then Info. Select Protect Document and then Enable Editing.
If you receive or open a document and cant make any changes, it might be Open for viewing only in Protected View.
To edit an attachment Select the message, calendar item or task that contains your attachment. Next to the attachment, select the and choose Edit in Browser. If you have Office installed, you will also see the option to Edit in desktop app.
Open an email that has attachments. Click Edit Message, to put the email in editable mode. Open one of the attachments (e.g. Word or Excel document) Edit the document and click save, at which point the email is updated with the modified version of the document.
To make changes to a document, in the upper-right corner, select Edit Document Edit. If someone else created the document, they might not allow editing. You can go to File Save as, save it with another name, and edit the new document. Or you can ask the document owner to enable editing.
Select the message, calendar item or task that contains your attachment. Next to the attachment, select the and choose Edit in Browser. If you have Office installed, you will also see the option to Edit in desktop app.
How you update an attachment depends on where the attachment came from: File uploaded from a computer or mobile device: If the file is attached to the sheet directly, you have to download the attachment and edit the file outside of Smartsheet, and then upload the edited file as a new version.
