Q2: Where do deleted files go if not in Recycle Bin? If the deleted files are not in the Recycle Bin, then they might have been permanently deleted. When this happens, the space of the files will be marked as free, and other data can overwrite it.
Files deleted from a zipped folder do not go to the Recycle Bin, they are just gone and not retrievable. If the folders you were trying to delete were from a zipped folder than this could be the explanation. Also, right click on the Recycle bin. You should see there are a few options.
When you delete a file from your computer, it moves to the Windows Recycle Bin. You empty the Recycle Bin and the file is permanently erased from the hard drive. Instead, the space on the disk that was occupied by the deleted data is deallocated.
You could recover deleted ZIP files via File History, using Windows File Recovery, or you might as well make use of a professional data recovery app - MyRecover. This useful tool could help users recover permanently deleted files in Windows 10 or 11.
First, check the recycle bin, and if you find the file there right-click then click Restore. If the file is not in the recycle bin, you can use File History or check previous versions in Windows 10.
Generally, a file or folder would be stored in the Recycle Bin after they are deleted. Only clicking the key combination Shift + Delete could delete them directly. However, during the use, clicking delete button would directly delete files if the Recycle Bins settings changed.
Recover from the Recycle Bin Open the Recycle Bin by double-clicking on its icon. Search for the archive file that you want to retrieve. Right-click on the item and select the Restore option.
