To restore data from the binary log, you must know the name and location of the current binary log files. By default, the server creates binary log files in the data directory, but a path name can be specified with the --log-bin option to place the files in a different location.
With PITR, you can create continuous backups of your DynamoDB table data. DynamoDB can back up your data with per-second granularity and restore data to any given second in the preceding 35 days. PITR helps protect you against accidental writes and deletes.
Point-in-time recovery refers to recovery of data changes up to a given point in time. Typically, this type of recovery is performed after restoring a full backup that brings the server to its state as of the time the backup was made.
Find the most recent backup before the specified recovery point in time. Restore the backup to a temporary database. Replay the binlog files to that temporary database up to the specified point in time. Swap the temporary database with the targeting database.
Spanner point-in-time recovery (PITR) provides protection against accidental deletion or writes. For example, if an operator inadvertently writes data or an application rollout corrupts the database, with PITR you can recover the data from a point-in-time in the past (up to a maximum of 7 days) seamlessly.
It usually takes 30 to 45 minutes for the process to complete. If it takes more than the given time frame, refer to the solutions below to fasten the System Restore process.
