Low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion (LSIL) is a common abnormal result on a Pap test. Its also known as mild dysplasia. LSIL means that your cervical cells show mild abnormalities. A LSIL, or abnormal Pap result, doesnt mean that you have cancer. The tissue that covers your cervix is made up of squamous cells.
A normal (or negative) result means that no cell changes were found on your cervix. This is good news. But you still need to get Pap tests in the future. New cell changes can still form on your cervix.
