hey everyone um i just want to show you a quick trick in excel i use this a lot and it is kind of the key to creating more dynamic flexible complex layouts in excel and its a really simple concept it is just simply dropping a text value or a number value into a shape that can then be dynamically updated and placed wherever you want on a page so traditionally in excel we use the cell grid in the background right so if you drop in something its in a cell and then you can add something from the cell next to it so on and so forth thats great its really nice when youre doing data processing its very well organized it allows for complex cell references all that kind of stuff but its not great when youre doing a a visual layout when youre trying to make something that looks cool you know its it is its not akin to web development its akin to kind of uh i dont know getting stuck in uh painting with paint by numbers or something like that it just doesnt give us enough flexibility

Re: Delete shapes from Excel files @Rudrabhadra Press F5, select Special, then Objects and OK. That selects all objects at once. Now you can press Delete if you really want to get rid of all objects in the schedule.
On the Insert menu, select SmartArt Graphic. On the SmartArt tab of the ribbon, in the Insert SmartArt Graphic group, select at the type of graphic you want (List, Process, etc.), and then select a layout.
You can find all the tools for SmartArt graphics on the SmartArt toolbar. To activate the SmartArt toolbar, click on a SmartArt graphic.
After you split your SmartArt graphic into individual shapes, you cannot convert the shapes back to a SmartArt graphic. Click the SmartArt graphic that you want to break apart. Under SmartArt Tools, on the Design tab, in the Reset group, click Convert, and then click Convert to Shapes.
Insert a SmartArt graphic and add text to it On the Insert tab, in the Illustrations group, click SmartArt. In the Choose a SmartArt Graphic dialog box, click the type and layout that you want. Enter your text by doing one of the following: Click [Text] in the Text pane, and then type your text.
On the View tab, in the Show group, click Task Panes, and then click Size Position. Select the shape you want to resize. Enter the width and height values for the shape.
Change the layout, color or style Select the SmartArt Tools Design tab. Hover over the Layouts to preview them, and select the one you want. Select Change Colors, hover over the options to preview them, and select the one you want. Hover over the SmartArt Styles to preview them, and select the one you want.
If your document is in an old Word format (. doc or . dot for example) SmartArt is not available to you, as old file formats and other file formats such as (. rtf) do not have the ability to contain SmartArt objects.
To delete a shape, you must click its border. If the shape that you want to delete contains text, and you click inside the shape rather than clicking its border, then some of the text is deleted when you press Delete, but the shape itself is not deleted.
Insert a SmartArt graphic and add text to it On the Insert tab, select SmartArt. On the dropdown menu, select the layout that you want. The graphic is inserted on your slide. To enter text, click next to a bullet in the Text editor, and then type your text, or paste text that youve copied from elsewhere.
