[Music] this time in the workshop ive got a little project in ive been asked to restore a coaster brands kp36 record player its about 50 years old its made in kent england in a horrible green drab colour oh the customer wants me to turn it blue and its giving me free reign to do whatever i like with the rest of it its probably a good idea to see if this thing works always intriguing hopefully no smoke comes out if i turn it on oh i can hear you thats encouraging an amplifier is working an early transistor one in this case i can hear a motor going which is also not terrible but theres no motion here at all it doesnt seem to be right another thing to check is that the cartridge theres any noise im not surprised very much often these things are dead these early crystal cartridges so on with the teardown [Music] well the lids got to come off first luckily its just held in with screws but these hinges do look rather rusty ill have to see if i can save those later theres usual
