Convert a shared mailbox back to a users (private) mailbox Go to the Exchange admin center. Select Recipients Shared. Select the shared mailbox. Under Convert to Regular Mailbox, select Convert. Go back to the admin center. Under Users, choose the user account associated with the old shared mailbox.
It can be recovered within 30 days after being deleted. After 30 days, the user account and mailbox are permanently deleted and not recoverable. To delete a Microsoft 365 or Office 365 work or school account, see Delete or restore users.
Until a deleted mailbox is permanently deleted from the Exchange mailbox database, you can use the EAC or the Exchange Management Shell to connect it to an Active Directory user account. You can also use the Exchange Management Shell to restore the contents of the deleted mailbox to an existing mailbox.
In the new EAC, navigate to Recipients Mailboxes. Select the mailbox for which you want to recover deleted messages, and click on the display name. Under More actions, click Recover deleted items.
Recover a deleted email Tap. in the upper-left corner, then tap an accounts Trash mailbox. Tap the email you want to recover, then tap . Tap Move Message, then choose another mailbox.
Select the mailbox for which you want to recover deleted messages, and click on the display name. Under More actions, click Recover deleted items. Enter values for each or either of the filter criteria from the drop-down lists.
In some cases, you can even recover items after the Deleted Items folder is emptied. You can also recover a deleted folder (with all of its messages) if its still in your Deleted Items folder. Unfortunately, you cant recover a folder thats been permanently deleted.
