okay so recently I had a one of my machines fail so luckily I created an ami right so images so those of you guys know about servers you can create a snapshot of your computer of your machine so Amazon has whats called Amazon machine image right so I created one of these guys and I was able to launch pick an instance so I call technical support and they say this is really cool when you first want to build your machine should select the large instance so you can your apps quicker then you can then toggle it down so thats makes things really flex flexible right so these are the consideration you need to think about when youre restoring choose instance choose configured instance this gives you the opportunity of put it on a different subnet give it a name and this network VPC allow your images to talk to each other so again you can add or remove storages as you please and then tags this allow you to identify your new instance right and then security group the default is to create a ne

Restore the AMI from an EBS snapshot When you delete or deregister an Amazon EBS-backed AMI, any snapshots created for the volume of the instance during the AMI creation process are retained. If you accidentally delete the AMI, you can launch an identical AMI using one of the retained snapshots.
To restore a virtual machine to VMware, VMware Cloud on AWS, and VMware Cloud on AWS Outposts: In the Hypervisors or Virtual machines views, choose the VM name to restore. Choose the radial button next to the Recovery point ID to restore. Choose Restore. Choose the Restore type. Choose the Restore location.
On the Amazon EC2 console, on the Elastic Block Store menu, choose Snapshots. Search for the snapshot that you want to restore, and select it. Choose Actions, and then choose Create Volume. Create the new volume in the same Availability Zone as your EC2 instance.
Sign in to the AWS Management Console and open the Amazon RDS console at . In the navigation pane, choose Snapshots. Choose the DB snapshot that you want to restore from. For Actions, choose Restore snapshot.
To update an AMI, launch an instance and update its software. For that instance to have access to the AWS services that it needs, create an AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) role with the correct permissions policies attached.
On the Amazon EC2 console, on the Elastic Block Store menu, choose Snapshots. Search for the snapshot that you want to restore, and select it. Choose Actions, and then choose Create Volume. Create the new volume in the same Availability Zone as your EC2 instance.
To restore a resource. Open the AWS Backup console at . In the navigation pane, choose Protected resources and the resource ID you want to restore. A list of your recovery points, including the resource type, is displayed by Resource ID.
Launch a fresh EC2 instance from your AMI image. Sign-in to your new EC2 instance (either using SSH or Windows RDP). Copy data from your new EC2 instance to your original EC2 instance using your preferred tools. Continue using your original EC2 instance going forward.
