Years ago when I first got into digital raw photography, my photo editing process was.. well, pretty much non-existent. I would open a raw image in Lightroom, I would scroll through the Develop panel, and I would move sliders left and right without really understanding what I should be doing and in what order in order to create a photograph out of the gray, dull, RAW image that I saw in front of me. After plenty of failed attempts, I realized that my process or lack thereof needed structure. A series of steps, each with its own clearly defined goal, so that anytime I would sit down to edit a photo, I would know where to start, where I was going next, and where I would ultimately finish. So today Im going to share with you my own 10 step RAW photo processing framework. It sounds rather official butits really not. These are simply the steps which work best for me and the way that I approach photo processing. By the way the focus of this video will be on the framework itself, so

The main difference between any JPEG and RAW file is its size. RAW files are docHubly bigger than JPEG (and any other) image file formats. Thats because they contain all the raw image information captured by your digital cameras sensors, completely uncompressed.
RAW RAW files are unprocessed and un-compressed data files that contain all of the image information available to the camera sensor. Because RAW files are unprocessed, they come out looking flat and dark, as you can see above.
Solution 1: Restore using PCs recycle bin Step 1: Access the recycle bin from the desktop. Launch it and wait until all files are displayed. Step 2: Select all the pictures you want to recover. Right-click on them and select restore from the menu displayed.
RAW RAW files are unprocessed and un-compressed data files that contain all of the image information available to the camera sensor. Because RAW files are unprocessed, they come out looking flat and dark, as you can see above.
RAW files are untouched by the cameras built-in processor which means if you only convert a RAW file to JPEG without making a single change, your photo could look worse than if you had just shot a JPEG in the first place.
Its because of the extended dynamic range contained within them. Dynamic range is the amount of tonal range detail in the shot. That means the detail in the darkest shadows or brightest highlights. Because the RAW photo retains much more of this detail, the images look dull, almost grey, before editing.
Your sensor converts light to electricity. And when its dark, it will have to make those signals stronger to create a correct exposure . In the process, the disparities in the output end up creating grainy photos because of digital noise.
Because RAW files are unprocessed, they come out looking flat and dark, as you can see above. RAW images need to be viewed and processed using your cameras software, or in more commonly used, robust software like docHub Photoshop, Lightroom, Capture One, etc prior to being ready for display or print.
