my reason for dragging you in here is a quick refresher of registry a quick refresher refresher of restore points just a very quick reminder of all these critical things what i have up here right now is is a a monitoring tool that allows you to look at whats going on with the operating system many people think because this they look at their their look at their desktop and they say my operating system is not very busy that is not true because im actually running process monitor and you can actually see that your operating system is very very busy in fact its executing literally thousands of different things at the same time but my point isnt to talk about all the different things that go ahead it really is to take lets focus on the registry i cant emphasize enough how critical the rigid registry is to windows it is it is in fact if you take the registry out you have no windows so im going to remove from this display all of the windows processes im just going to delete all of t

Create a system restore point In the search box on the taskbar, type Create a restore point, and select it from the list of results. On the System Protection tab in System Properties, select Create. Type a description for the restore point, and then select Create > OK.
A restore point creates a copy of the system files on the computer at the moment it's created. This means you can return the computer to its original state should any errors occur when, for instance, you run system utilities or installing drivers.

Does System Restore Delete Files? System Restore, by definition, will only restore your system files and settings. It has zero impact on any documents, pictures, videos, batch files, or other personal data stored on hard disks.
Press Windows + R keys together on the keyboard. When the Run dialog box opens, type rstrui and hit Enter. In the System Restore window, click on Next. This will list all available system restore points.
A system restore point is not a full backup. It does not affect user data or files. This means that a system restore point can be safely used by a user. A system restore will not delete personal files such as documents, pictures, music or videos.
In the search box on the taskbar, type restore files, and then select Restore your files with File History. Look for the file you need, then use the arrows to see all its versions. When you find the version you want, select Restore to save it in its original location.
A system restore point is an image of the system configuration and settings in the Windows Registry that helps in restoring the system to an earlier date when the system was running perfectly.
You can check what programs will be affected when using a restore point, but it will really only detect programs that were actually uninstalled, not just corrupted. In other words, System Restore cannot be relied upon to reinstall programs even in the best of conditions because it is not a backup/restore program.
In the Control Panel search box, type recovery. Select Recovery > Open System Restore. In the Restore system files and settings box, select Next. Select the restore point that you want to use in the list of results, and then select Scan for affected programs.
