Create a system restore point In the search box on the taskbar, type Create a restore point, and select it from the list of results. On the System Protection tab in System Properties, select Create. Type a description for the restore point, and then select Create > OK.
There are two types of restore points in Oracle Database: a normal restore point and a guaranteed restore point. The differences are: Guaranteed restore points let you revert to the restore point regardless of the DB_FLASHBACK_RETENTION_TARGET initialization parameter.
Create a guaranteed restore point: $> su – oracle. $> sqlplus / as sysdba; Find out if ARCHIVELOG is enabled. SQL> select log_mode from v$database; ... Manually create a System Restore Point Type and search [Create a restore point] in the Windows search bar①, then click [Open]②. Select a drive that have system protection turned on③, and then click [Create]④. Type a description to help you identify the restore point⑤, then click [Create]⑥.
To go back to a restore point: Select the Start button, then type control panel in the search box next to the Start button on the taskbar and select Control Panel (Desktop app) from the results. Search Control Panel for Recovery, and select Recovery > Open System Restore > Next.
In the Control Panel search box, type recovery. Select Recovery > Open System Restore. In the Restore system files and setting box, select Next. Select the restore point that you want to use in the list of results, and then select Scan for affected programs.
Create a guaranteed restore point: $> su – oracle. $> sqlplus / as sysdba; Find out if ARCHIVELOG is enabled. SQL> select log_mode from v$database; ... SQL> shutdown immediate; SQL> startup mount; SQL> alter database archivelog; SQL> alter database open; SQL> create restore point CLEAN_DB guarantee flashback database;
Even when you did an ALTER DATABASE OPEN RESETLOGS you can use Flashback Database afterwards again. And you can have more than one Guaranteed Restore Point. Therefore multiple flashback operations in all directions are possible.
You can not create a system restore point today for yesterday, last week or last month. That is past history. You can only create a restore point today to use at some time in the future, if necessary. Cheers.
Oracle 19c supports automatic restore point propagation from the primary database to the standby database. This can be particularly useful in situations where during a logical operation on the primary database, the database will immediately fail beyond repair.
