No Legal Requirement to Give Private Employees Paid Sick Days in Florida. In Florida, the simple answer to this question is no, albeit with an important caveat. Nothing in Florida state requires private businesses to give employees paid sick leave.
Under the new paid sick leave law, an employer is not required to cash out an employees paid sick leave at time of termination, however, California employers are required to payout all accrued PTO at time of termination.
