1 Answer Go to your snapshot. Right click and choose "Create image" (assume the volume is bootable and it works). Fill out the info required. Image (aka AMI) will be created based on your snapshot and the info you will provide. Launch an instance from the AMI.
An Amazon Machine Image (AMI) is stored in Amazon S3, but it is not directly accessible. Instead, you must use API calls or the Management Console to use an AMI.
With Amazon EC2 instance store-backed AMIs, each time you customize an AMI and create a new one, all of the parts are stored in Amazon S3 for each AMI.
How to Find an AWS Marketplace AMI Image ID Go to the AWS Marketplace page and search for the image. Click on the image title. Click Continue to Subscribe button. Click Continue to Configuration button. Verify Fulfillment Option, Software Version, and Region values. ... Find the Ami Id.
Restoring an EBS volume from an Amazon EBS snapshot On the Amazon EC2 console, on the Elastic Block Store menu, choose Snapshots. Search for the snapshot that you want to restore, and select it. Choose Actions, and then choose Create Volume. Create the new volume in the same Availability Zone as your EC2 instance.
AMIs can launch with multiple EBS volumes attached, allowing you to replicate both an instance's configuration and the state of all the EBS volumes that are attached to that instance. Note: Instances created from AMIs do not retain or copy any data stored in instance store volumes.
No, it is not possible to retrieve the instances that have been deleted once. If it has been stopped, it can be retrieved back by simply starting it again.
Unlike other virtual system types, EC2 images (called AMIs or Amazon Machine Images) are not stored on your Cloudmin master system. Instead they are stored as files inside Amazon's S3 storage service, and can be selected when creating a virtual system on EC2.
Resolution Launch a replacement EC2 instance using Amazon EBS snapshots or Amazon Machine Images (AMI) backups that were created from the terminated Amazon EC2 instance. Attach an EBS volume from the terminated instance to another EC2 instance. You can then access the data contained in those volumes.
To restore an Amazon EBS volume Open the AWS Backup console at https://console.aws.amazon.com/backup . In the navigation pane, choose Protected resources and then choose the EBS resource ID you want to restore. On the Resource details page, a list of recovery points for the selected resource ID is shown.
