Log files in W3C format are text-based files that most log-parsing utilities can process. Binary log files use a proprietary storage format that requires the use of an application that can process log files in that format, such as Microsoft's LogParser utility.
The purpose of the binary log is to allow replication, where data is sent from one or more masters to one or more slave servers based on the contents of the binary log, as well as assisting in backup operations. A MariaDB server with the binary log enabled will run slightly more slowly.
MySQL will use the default data directory location to store the binary log files. On LINUX, the typical defaults are /user/local/mysql/data for binary/source installation and /var/lib/mysql for RPM packages.
You can use mysqlbinlog to read binary log files directly and apply them to the local MySQL server. You can also read binary logs from a remote server by using the --read-from-remote-server option. To read remote binary logs, the connection parameter options can be given to indicate how to connect to the server.
Enabling the binary logs MySQL binary logs can be enabled or disabled by adding or removing the log-bin configuration option. The log-bin parameter is in the configuration files named my. ini. When we MySQL Server, the configuration file is created in C:\ProgramData\MySQL\MySQL Server 8.0 directory.

To read remote binary logs, the connection parameter options can be given to indicate how to connect to the server.
To retrieve a list of all the BinLogs present in your system, make use of the following command: mysql> SHOW BINARY LOGS; This command will display a list of all binary logs present in the system only when the binary log is enabled otherwise, it gives an error.
To delete all binary log files, use RESET MASTER. To move to a new log file (for example if you want to remove the current log file), use FLUSH LOGS before you execute PURGE LOGS .
Can I Remove MySQL Binary Log Yes, as long as the data is replicated to Slave server, it's safe to remove the file. It's recommend only remove MySQL Binary Log older than 1 month. Besides, if Recovery of data is the main concern, it's recommend to archive MySQL Binary Log.
For a server where binary logging is enabled ( log_bin is ON ), RESET MASTER deletes all existing binary log files and resets the binary log index file, resetting the server to its state before binary logging was started. A new empty binary log file is created so that binary logging can be restarted.
