[Music] hey guys this is Anthony Morgan tee I am mr. photographer calm Ive been meaning to do this video for a while because in the past Ive been espousing a practice that is just plain wrong and I need to go on record and teach you the correct way you should be doing this specifically Im talking about backing up your Lightroom catalog you probably know that when you first got Lightroom and you shut it down a little pop-up would appear asking you to back up the Lightroom catalog and Ive done at least two videos that I could remember where I say I have that set to never I never backup my Lightroom catalog from within Lightroom because I do it externally I back up my catalog externally to another hard drive and to the cloud I also backup all my images to another hard drive into a cloud well after my last video posted several people commented and a few even emailed me telling me that I should look at a video by Terry white terry white works for docHub and he explains in his video why y

Most of the time though it will be missing from the Lightroom catalogue because you have moved the file or folder to another location. The common cause is when you back-up files to an external hard drive or you rename a folder.
How to Transfer Lightroom to a New Computer Step 1: Backup Lightroom Catalog. Step 2: Lightroom on New Computer. Step 3: Migrate Photo Library to New Computer. Transfer Catalog to New Computer. Step 5: Reconnect Any Missing Folders. Step 6: Reinstall Lightroom Presets.
Your Lightroom Classic catalogs are located in the following folders, by default: Windows: \Users\[user name]\Pictures\Lightroom. macOS: /Users/[user name]/Pictures/Lightroom.
They will automatically be stored in the Backups folder that is under Lightroom in your Pictures folder. On a Windows computer, backups are stored by default to the C: drive, under your user files, under the structure of Pictures, Lightroom and Backups.
To relink Lightroom to a missing photo, click on the exclamation point in the upper right corner of the image thumbnail. Lightroom displays the last-known location of the photo. Click Locate, and navigate to the targeted photo.
Deleting a catalog erases all the work youve done in Lightroom Classic that isnt saved in the photo files. While the previews are deleted, the original photos being linked to are not deleted.
Select the photos that you want to restore. Click the Restore icon . In Lightroom desktop, you can also Control-click (macOS)/right-click (Windows) and select Restore Photo. Your selected photos are then restored in All Photos and any albums that the photos were previously in.
