You can't delete a snapshot of the root device of an EBS volume used by a registered AMI. You must first deregister the AMI before you can delete the snapshot. For more information, see Deregister your AMI. You can't delete a snapshot that is managed by the Amazon Backup service using Amazon EC2.
Log into your Druva CloudRanger console and navigate to Resources > EC2. Navigate to the Backups tab and select the AMI that you wish to restore. On the backup details page, click Restore. Alternatively, you may select the AMI from the Backups page, and then click Restore to initiate the restore process.
How to Find an AWS Marketplace AMI Image ID Go to the AWS Marketplace page and search for the image. Click on the image title. Click Continue to Subscribe button. Click Continue to Configuration button. Verify Fulfillment Option, Software Version, and Region values. ... Find the Ami Id.
No, it is not possible to retrieve the instances that have been deleted once. If it has been stopped, it can be retrieved back by simply starting it again.
With Amazon EC2 instance store-backed AMIs, each time you customize an AMI and create a new one, all of the parts are stored in Amazon S3 for each AMI.
In the AWS Backup console, navigate to Protected Resources. Select the Protected Resource ID that you want to restore. On the Resource details page, select the Recovery point ID you want to perform the VM restore from, and then select the Restore button.
Resolution Launch a replacement EC2 instance using Amazon EBS snapshots or Amazon Machine Images (AMI) backups that were created from the terminated Amazon EC2 instance. Attach an EBS volume from the terminated instance to another EC2 instance. You can then access the data contained in those volumes.
AMIs can launch with multiple EBS volumes attached, allowing you to replicate both an instance's configuration and the state of all the EBS volumes that are attached to that instance. Note: Instances created from AMIs do not retain or copy any data stored in instance store volumes.
Restore the AMI from an EBS snapshot When you delete or deregister an Amazon EBS-backed AMI, any snapshots created for the volume of the instance during the AMI creation process are retained. If you accidentally delete the AMI, you can launch an identical AMI using one of the retained snapshots.
Restore the AMI from an EC2 instance If both the AMI and the snapshots are deleted, you can recover the AMI from any EC2 instance that launched using the deleted AMI.
