The most common reason for an Excel formula not calculating is that you have inadvertently activated the Show Formulas mode in a worksheet. To get the formula to display the calculated result, just turn off the Show Formulas mode by doing one of the following: Pressing the Ctrl + ` shortcut, or.
Check for Automatic Recalculation. On the Formulas ribbon, look to the far right and click Calculation Options. On the dropdown list, verify that Automatic is selected. When this option is set to automatic, Excel recalculates the spreadsheets formulas whenever you change a cell value.
Formulas will not recalculate automatically if Excel is set to Manual calculation mode. You can change the values of A2 B2 as you wish but the formula result will not change while the setting is still in Manual calc mode.
Under AutoCorrect options, click AutoCorrect Options. Click the AutoFormat As You Type tab. Under Automatically as you work, select or clear the Fill formulas in tables to create calculated columns check box to turn this option on or off.
To update a calculated column, click any cell in the calculated column and edit the formula in that cell and press ENTER. Excel will automatically extend the formula to the remaining table column cells.
Go to the destination worksheet and click the cell where you want to link the cell from the source worksheet. On the Home tab, click on the drop-down arrow button of Paste, and select Paste Link from Other Paste Options. Or right-click in the cell on the destination worksheet and choose Paste Link from Paste Options.
The easiest way to apply a formula to the entire column in all adjacent cells is by double-clicking the fill handle by selecting the formula cell. In this example, we need to select the cell F2 and double click on the bottom right corner. Excel applies the same formula to all the adjacent cells in the entire column F.
