The United States has no national registration of marriages, foreign or domestic. U.S. states recognize marriages performed in other states and in other countries. If your marriage was legally performed in the country or state where you got married, then the marriage is recognized in the United States.
County level records Look for marriage licenses, registers, bonds and ministers returns in county records. These may be at the county courthouse and/or in the state archives. Various collections can be found in online databases such as Ancestry.com, FamilySearch.org , MyHeritage or FindMyPast.com.
You can request a copy of a marriage record online, by mail, or in person. If you submit your request online, you must still complete the application by mail or in person. The fee for a domestic marriage record (short certificate) is $15 and $10 for each additional copy.
