Often one sentence is enough to tell the person youve received their message. Its always a good idea to thank someone who has sent you a message (even if its an invoice or bill). I can confirm that we have received your email, and I wanted to acknowledge receipt. Thank you for sending me the (invoice, report, etc.).
A delivery receipt confirms delivery of your email message to the recipients mailbox, but not that the recipient has seen it or read it. A read receipt confirms that your message was opened. In Outlook, the message recipient can decline to send read receipts.
Get a delivery or read receipt In the open message, click Options. In the Tracking group, select the Request a Delivery Receipt or the Request a Read Receipt check box.
It is a document showing that the goods have been received. For example, suppose there is any damaged or missing item in the incoming products or their packaging. In that case, the buyer issues the delivery receipt ingly and has it signed by the shipping officer who made the delivery.
A delivery receipt tells you that an email message was delivered to the recipients mailbox, but not whether the recipient has seen it or read it. A read receipt tells you that a message was opened. In both cases, you receive a message notification in your Inbox.
Can you request a read receipt in Outlook without the recipient knowing? Some email services allow you to hide a read receipt from the recipient, but thats not the case with Outlook. If you are using the read receipt Outlook feature, the recipient will always know that you have requested a read receipt.
The recipient organization can choose not to allow any delivery receipts. This prevents external senders from receiving delivery receipts.
