Ask Your Employer: See if current or previous employers have a copy of the resume or application you submitted when you were hired. Contact Other Recipients of Your Resume: Many employers and recruiters store all resumes received, even from candidates who werent interviewed or hired.
If theres a small error on your resume, it may be best to do nothing. A small typo may not sway the hiring managers opinion of you or your resume. Recruiters or hiring managers look over many resumes a day, so they might skim over each resume to get through their queue efficiently.
How to email a CV Find and enter the recipients work email address. Mention the reason for sending your CV in the subject line. Greet the recipient by name in the email and inform them who you are and why youre sending them your CV. Close the email politely and give your full name.
You want to make sure that you apologise and send through the right version as quickly as possible. The longer you wait to send through a correction, the greater the chance that someone will look at your old resume and take it as the real one.
Consider resending your resume if you notice multiple typos or other major resume mistakes after you click send. While it might feel awkward, there are professional ways to resend a resume. Dont try to resend your resume without acknowledging the corrections.
Acknowledge Your Error Send a follow up to the hiring manager or recruiter and explain what happened. The apology may not get you the interview or the job offer, but it will stop the damage straightaway. No matter how embarrassed you are about the situation, the best way to handle it is to address it head on.
All you need to say is Sorry, I accidentally sent an old version of my resume. Would I be able to send you a more updated version? Please see my most recent resume attached. Some mistakes arent obvious ones or quick fix ones.
