Open the file you want to restore and go to File > Info. If the file has previous versions, you'll see a button called Version History. Select it to see the list of versions. In the Version History pane on the right, select a version to view it.
How to recover overwritten files on a Windows PC Open Windows Explorer and open the folder that contained the overwritten file. From anywhere within the folder, right-click and select Properties. Select the Previous Versions tab. Look at the list of versions, each with a date, and look for the version you want.

The previous versions are not created as part of a restore point. In this case, the deleted or lost files are still existing on your hard drive, but you cannot use the Restore previous version option to get them back.
Recover a New Excel File That Was Not Saved Then, click Open on the File tab on the Ribbon. At the bottom of the page, after selecting Recent, click Recover Unsaved Workbooks. You'll then be able to select any unsaved file in the Open window. That is all it takes to recover a new Excel file that was not saved.
Re: Spreadsheet Disappeared You can recover an unsaved Excel document: To do this, click on "File" in the ribbon and on "Manage workbook" in the "Information" area. You can use the “Restore unsaved workbooks” menu item to find the unsaved Excel files and restore them.
