Hi gang! In this video were going to recover a Google Sheet by restoring a previous version. This can be a huge time-saver, maybe even a job saver, in the event that something goes wrong with one of your files and you need to backtrack. Here we have a donation spreadsheet. Now, lets say that for some reason all, of our data disappears. Technically we can undo this right now, but pretend weve already closed out of the file and undoing is no longer an option. No worries. Well just restore a previous version. In the menu bar, click File Find Version History, and then click See version history. The version history window opens. You can see on my right that Google sheets has logged different times when Ive updated this file. My current version at the top is obviously not right, so Im going to look at the most recent earlier version. The version thats logged here is the one from April 25th, and it has all of my data. So rather than keep my garbage file, Im going to restore

How to recover overwritten files on a Windows PC Open Windows Explorer and open the folder that contained the overwritten file. From anywhere within the folder, right-click and select Properties. Select the Previous Versions tab. Look at the list of versions, each with a date, and look for the version you want.
If youve saved the file Open the file you were working on. Go to File Info. Under Manage Workbook or Manage Presentation, select the file labeled (when I closed without saving). In the bar at the top of the file, select Restore to overwrite any previously saved versions.
Online Version History Click the Title Bar button. Select Version History. Here you see all the changes that have been made to the file, either by you or anyone the file is shared with. Click Open version for the file you want to restore. Save an additional copy of the file or click the Restore button.
Open Excel and select the File drop-down menu. If any documents were saved under AutoRecover, you will see a Recover Unsaved file. Open this to restore the Excel file; name and save it in your desired location.
If the document is still open, you can simply click the Undo button on the Quick Access Toolbar or use its shortcut Ctrl+Z to return to the state before you made any changes, and then save again. However, once you hit Save and closed the document, the Undo memory is erased and some actions arent undoable.
