how you going guys Kurtis from cutting edge engineering todays job we have a stick cylinder in for a massive repair so the cylinder is off a pc300 Komatsu excavator this is the dipper arm cylinder or the stick cylinder on the machine it goes on top of the boom and connects out to the dipper arm which then goes down to your bucket they are probably the most high cycle cylinder on a machine the customers taken the rod out of the barrel in order to do a reseal and they have discovered a lot of damage on the inside of the barrel and to the piston damage inside that barrel is just unbelievable it would probably be one of the worst ive ever seen the scoring is from one end to the other so there is no hope of salvaging the barrel and that was caused by the piston and the piston is absolutely mounted so there is no other way to explain it but it is a massive design flaw in these cylinders what actually caused the damage here was directly from the manufacturer
